Clubs and Organizations
West Clayton Elementary School offers many extra-curricular activities that allow students to grow academically and socially through team building, cooperative learning, and competition. Your scholar will have a chance to participate in educational and academic clubs, fine art clubs, student interest groups, and athletics.
Here are some of the opportunities available to our scholars:
READING BOWL |
Students participated in the county wide competition to evaluate reading comprehension. |

FIRST IN MATH | Our First in Math Ambassadors promote a culture of math success within our school encouraging all students to participate in building their math knowledge and fluency. | |||
CHALLENGE 24 |
West Clayton participates in the intense Challenge 24 competition, which involves quick computation with 4 digits to result in the answer 24. |

SCIENCE OLYMPIADS | We are proud to represent WCES for the first time this school year in the Science Olympiads. | |||
SCIENCE FAIR |
Students participate in the Science Fair at the school level, before moving on to the district level. |

PANTHER FACT PACK |
Students are given an opportunity to demonstrate multiplication facts, and students are given prizes and acknowledgements when reciting all of their facts. Almost 100 students successfully recited their multiplication facts during the 2023-2024 school year. We anticipate exceeding that number this year, as we are off to a strong start! |

FIRST LEGO LEAGUE |
We are proud to represent WCES for the first time this school year in the annual First Lego League Competition. |

CHEERLEADING | Student, Khloe, won this award for being determined, showing a good cheer voice and coordination, and a positive attitude. | |||
SPELLING BEE | Students participated in the county wide competition to demonstrate spelling knowledge. | |||
SPANISH SPELLING BEE | We are proud to represent WCES for the first time this school year in the annual Spanish Spelling Bee. | |||
BASKETBALL | School level/ Team level awards were given in the way of trophies and certificates for their individual accomplishments. | |||
SOCCER |
West Clayton is proud to start a soccer team for the 2024-2025 school year. |

FLAG FOOTBALL | West Clayton was undefeated in the 2023 - 2024 season and earned a regional championship and represented the first ever playoff. Although we didn’t win the county championship, we put the county on notice. | |||
ART CLUB | Our 5th grade student, Jalyiah G, earned second place in the county-wide Digital Art Competition. Two other students received Honorable Mention. | |||
MUSIC CLUB | The Music club is held after school and is a great way for interested students to improve their musical knowledge and talents. Students participate in the chorus program, percussion, and earsketch. | |||
CHESS CLUB | The Chess club is held after school and is a great way for interested students to improve their skills and strategies. | |||
STEAM CLUB |
The STEAM club is held after school and is a great way for interested students to improve their critical thinking, collaboration, and artistic skills. |

GARDENING CLUB | The Gardening club is held after school and is a great way for interested students to gain valuable skills. | |||
MEDIA CLUB |
Students are given an opportunity to serve as school-level ambassadors. Students are able to serve on the news-crew, assist with school social media, lead school tours, create school advertisements, and take photographs during school events. |

GIRLS GROUP | This all girls group works on an extended service project that incorporates the arts, team building, and character building. |
