Greetings Panther Family,

As principal of West Clayton Elementary, it is my pleasure to welcome every one back for another exciting year. We are elated to have students back in our hallways and classrooms, filling them with energy and enthusiasm for learning. I hope this letter finds that you have had time to complete all your summer projects while spending quality time with family and friends, doing things you enjoy.

For the 2019-2020 school year, Clayton County Public Schools continues to be “Committed to High Performance.” With that, we will have clear and focused goals, processes and supports in place to promote student achievement. We know that each year presents new faces, new challenges and the anticipation of great things to come. If we keep our focus on our students, it will be an outstanding year.

Here at West Clayton Elementary, we will continue to focus in the areas of Rigor, Relevance and Relationships. When we have strong, trusting relationships with our students, they work hard and achieve more. After we establish relationships (trust) we can move to providing Relevant instruction. Relationships and Relevance make Rigor possible.

We have also created a new theme for the 2019-2020 school year: All In, Together We Win!!!!! In order to create an environment of excellence, every individual in our building must have a vested interest in the process.  As the old adage states, “It takes a village to raise our children.”  We are all in this together. There are no divisions here and we have only one agenda at West Clayton, to ensure our stakeholders are successful in every facet of their lives. What we do on a daily basis, collaboratively planning, making data driven decisions and maximizing instructional minutes are some of the things that constitutes the success of our students.

We also recognize that in order to be successful in school, our students need support from home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. Please make sure students are arriving to school on time, daily, ready for rigorous and exciting learning experiences. We also want our students to read daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills.

I am looking forward to a Successful and Exciting year and we look forward to seeing everyone on August 1st from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. for our Meet and Greet.
